U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
The greater sage grouse was once prolific on the western prairies. Their numbers have been in steady decline. They have been endangered in Canada since 1998 and endangered in Alberta since 2000. In 2009 there were 300 pairs of greater sage grouse recorded in southern Alberta. In 2010 this number again fell. This time the population was estimated at not much more than the population of the nearby town of Orion. Identifying the crisis is the first step in recovery. With this in mind, arb is seeking projects that enhance recovery. As we now have word that the 5000 reflectors are in transit, we may be closing in on another adventure!
